Reserve® Powers Global Heart Benefits. What, exactly, makes this gel so wonderful for us? Why would we need Heart Benefits in a gel? Once you know your terms, it’s much easier to discuss.
Heart Disease vs. Cardiovascular Disease and Why the Terms Matter
“Heart disease” and “cardiovascular disease” are used interchangably. But the “Why” difference matters when you’re reading statistics or product information. As my Dad would say, “Here ’tis.”
Heart disease refers specifically to conditions affecting the heart itself. We are talking about just the heart, meaning it can include heart failure, coronary artery disease, valve problems and arrhythmias. An arrhythmia is an irregular heartbeat, from too fast, too slow or a skipped beat of the heart. Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is more serious because of the possibility of blood pooling and clotting in the heart.
Cardiovascular disease is the broader term, covering the heart and all of your blood vessels throughout the body. An easy way to remember is that every heart disease is a cardiovascular disease. But the reverse, no. Because not every cardiovascular disease is a heart disease. Two major exceptions are stroke and peripheral artery disease, not exactly “heart disease,” but having to do with circulation of the blood.
What We Use
In everyday conversation, most people default to “heart disease” because it’s the more familiar term. It’s been around for generations and most of us mean a heart attack. But “cardiovascular disease” is the more accurate term for overall risk, since strokes and heart attacks together account for more than 80% of cardiovascular disease deaths. And they have the same underlying symptoms of plaque buildup, inflammation, and poor circulation. (2) You may hear the phrase “heart health” in connection to cardiovascular disease, too. That’s the one I use.

The French Paradox Explained
The French Paradox started as a challenge to the scientific hypothesis of comparing heart disease rates and diet patterns across countries. Their thesis was based on diets high in saturated fats would result in higher coronary heart disease risks. Although the French were observed to have diets high in saturated fats, they had lower rates of coronary heart disease.
In other words, good heart health with a high fat diet content. Scientists proposed that red wine consumption, very common in France, as one potential factor. In the early 1900s, they wanted to know what was the exact reason for this paradox.
Scientific Efforts from Then to Now
Studies started with the red wine and what it contained. Once they found polyphenolic compounds, resveratrol™ became their focus. It was studied for potential antioxidant and cardioascular effects. They also discovered resverarol™ is transformed into metabolites that have cardiovascular-protective properties.
The Limits and Complexity of Scientific Studies
With moderate wine consumption, resveratrol™ is associated with protective effects against disease. What is the amount of resverarol™ in red wine? The amount of resveatrol in red wine is small. So, there is still a question whether this alone explains the paradox.
The overall French lifestyle and diet patterns plus other polyphenols are considered as other factors. Therefore, scientific research continues to study this paradox and all of its facets to discover an accepted truth.
Why Resveratrol™ is My Heart-Healthy Hero
Resveratrol,™ a heart-friendly polyphenol, helps support cardiovascular health. Since I have retired, I have added this product to my health routine. It helps support my cellular level and gives me antioxidant protection every day.
I laugh and say daily, “I get the benefits of wine without the wine.” I notice if I have forgotten to take it, since my energy level drops a bit. Which then reminds me that I am only human. Of course, everyone will react differently, since we are all different.
Something to Consider
Have you ever wondered why some cultures seem to enjoy both rich foods and good heart health? Me. too. I thought of other questions at the same time. So, here they are.
Think a Little Deeper
- What if protecting your heart could be as simple as a daily ritual that actually tastes good?
- How well do you really understand what’s happening inside your body? Or maybe until something goes wrong and needs fixing?
- Why wait until there’s a problem to start taking care of the organ that keeps you alive every second of every day?
- With heart disease affecting millions globally, isn’t it time you took prevention as seriously as treatment?
- What would your future look like with more energy and a stronger, healthier heart?
- If you could reduce your heart risks without drastically changing your lifestyle, wouldn’t you want to know how?
Ready to give your heart the same attention it gives you, every second of every day? Make sure you check with your health provider, too.
Reserve® makes it simple with one grape-flavored gel, once a day, with no extra prep or lifestyle overhaul required. If you’re ready to stop putting prevention off until “someday,” today’s a good day to start.
