Sometimes our choices feel limited. We may feel we are choosing between “bad” or “worse.”
Why Do We Feel Stuck
We grow up in our community and learn habits. The nucleus of your learning is usually your family and their habits and beliefs. My example is that we always had the evening family meal in the kitchen.
This is also where we first learned our money attitude. Many of our beliefs are not taught in words. One summer, we saved our allowance in piggy banks to take with us on vacation.
When we counted our piggy bank money, I already knew I was going to be short. I had used some of it earlier and never told anyone. My parents gifted me that small amount, so everything would be equal between us three girls. After that, it was my choice to spend as I wanted on vacation. That small moment stayed with me for years.
We carry those quiet memories of money. We learn that money can be connected to fear, stress or embarrassment. These early experiences shape how we think about a clear path forward concerning saving, spending and even success.
The good news is that money beliefs are learned. That means they can also be unlearned and rebuilt to create a more positive money belief. Financial awareness helps our mindset. Mindset for success is so important.
How to Have Clarity in Your Life for A Clear Path Forward
We still need a basic structure to our lives. Without guidance and routines (habits), it’s very easy to be out-of-synch with your responsibilities and needs. Habits are practiced daily.
I have found a need for knowledge to assist in my own development. Finding a group with a similar mindset for success is a powerful first start. In this way, you can find a clear path.
Use their collective wisdom to pave your way. You may find “helpers” along the way and they do carry different titles: mentor, cheerleader, encourager, friends, even family members or neighbors. My friend discovered that his Grandfather was a wonderful mentor.
A Clear Path Forward for Your Finances and Future

Let’s take a closer look at each one.
Your mindset for success shapes how you respond to challenges. There are some people who expect problems. On the other hand, many people expect solutions. And neither attitude is fixed.
The way we talk to ourselves is important. When I say, “I can learn this,” I move forward. Becoming aware of your self-talk is the first step toward change. In fact, words can “cast a spell” over your body because they carry direction and energy. Your brain understands that repetition best.
Habits, both harmful and helpful, are practiced by everyone. Your good news is that habits can be improved and rebuilt.
For example, when you stay up late and struggle in the morning, start the change small. Move your bedtime just 15 minutes earlier. Repeat this daily. You can notice over time, that this small change can become automatic.
Consistency matters more than speed.
Financial awareness and strong money habits are key to long-term success. If you’ve heard advice like this before and it didn’t stick, I understand. My decision to use part of my “vacation money” for my immediate need-not a good decision. Most of us picked up our money habits just by watching how our family handled theirs.
The important note is this. Your financial skills can be learned at any stage of life. Your financial awareness level of your spending, saving and money goals can give you confidence and control. This is needed in today’s world.
Skill Building opens new doors and keeps life interesting. Skills can be complicated, such as learning baseball. They can include technology, creative work, communications or a combination of all.
In my own family, learning and creativity were things we enjoyed daily. This example showed me that growth is always possible.
Opportunities and Options are often closer than we think. They may be available in new technology, new education or new ways of working. That search led me somewhere unexpected online. I know what you might be thinking. I thought the same thing. Turns out, the PBS opportunity is an outstanding example of both skill building and opportunities online.
